Emergency Action and Communication Plan |

Upon approaching an emergency situation, the following steps are recommended: CHECK the area around the emergency. Is it stabilized and are you safe in approaching? CHECK the person for life threatening conditions. CALL 911 if you are in the port. After you have given all the information to the dispatcher, do not hang up until the dispatcher tells you to. After calling 911 and you are able to do so, call 241-1886 (Security Operations Center). This is a 24-hour manned station in the port. Advise the SOC personnel of the situation, and he/she will facilitate the emergency vehicles at the SOC Access Gate. If possible, send someone to flag down the emergency vehicles and escort them to the actual scene. CARE for the injured person. If you are alone, you will have to judge which care is required based on the situation. Continue care until relieved by emergency personnel. If 911 callers are asked to stay on the line, it may be a good idea for another person at the scene to call the 241-1886 (SOC) number; and if possible, also position themselves in a location to attract the attention of the responding emergency vehicles. |
