Safety Award Winners

Congratulations 2011 TCSI Award Recipient

Safety is our Attitude

Tony Campbell and Norberto Sanchez received one of the TCSI Safety Awards for making the boarding bridges a lot more safe. As result of prior incidents, a safety issue was identified whereas the track area of the boarding bridges at the Cruise Terminal left grooves when drawing back into itself which creates a tripping hazard on each side of the walkway. During a safety inspection of the walkway it was noted by Norberto Sanchez that perhaps “we should make it a bowling alley”. While the logic was to slow to dawn on the inspector, it became obvious when he said that bowling alleys routinely block gutters for children to play. The idea took hold and with the combine efforts of Norberto and Tony, safety inserts were designed and applied and the safety issue (s) has been solved.

Well Done! To common sense and hard work by two of the Port Authority’s Facilities Stars.

On January 27,2010 Steve Fidler presented Tony Campbell and Norberto Sanchez with the Safety Award for designing, fabricating, and installing safety inserts at the Cruise Terminal.

On December 8, 2009, Ms. Patrick was the first person to come upon an auto accident involving two fathers and their infant children. Although there were no apparent injuries, as a result of previous CPR and First Aid training, Ms. Patrick was able to offer any necessary medical assistance until paramedics arrived. Also, Ms. Patrick prevented possible additional complications resulting from scattered debris by using her vehicle to block traffic; as well as directing traffic and moving some of the larger debris from the immediate area, all while remaining calm and in control during a difficult situation.

On January 27, 2010, Shannon M. Patrick was presented the Safety Award for her recent level headedness and quick response upon arriving at an auto accident involving multiple vehicles.

Mr. Barber is awarded a Commendation of Safety Leadership by Bob Callahan of Tampa Port Authority and Sal Kass of Ports America.
